Disclosures

The short version
- Some shop links pay us a small fee. That never changes what we pick or what you pay.
- Made-up pictures are labeled “Illustration.”
- Our tips are general home care information, not professional advice.
How tips are checked
Our team checks every claim against the sources listed at the bottom of each page: product labels, the companies that make the products, government pages and university pages. If we cannot find a good source for something, it does not go on the page.
Every article shows the date it was last checked.
Pictures and illustrations
Any picture made with computer tools instead of a camera is labeled “Illustration.” We do not show made-up before and after pictures. A before and after picture on this site is real, or we do not show one.
Shop links
Some pages link to products at stores like Amazon, Walmart and Target. If you buy something through one of those links, the store may pay us a small fee. You do not pay anything extra.
These fees never change which products we pick or what you pay. We only link to things a tip actually uses, and we list the cheapest option that works first. No company pays us to recommend its product. Pages with shop links say so near the top.
Ads
There are no ads on the site yet. When we add them, they will be clearly labeled as ads, and we will update our Privacy Policy and add a cookie choice banner first. Advertisers never get a say in what we write or recommend.
Not professional advice
Everything here is general information about home care. It is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not made for your exact home or situation.
- Always read and follow the label on any product you use.
- Never mix cleaning products. See Cleaning products you should never mix (printable chart) for the most dangerous pairs.
- For medical, legal, electrical, gas or structural problems, call a licensed professional.
- If someone breathes in, swallows or gets a chemical on them, leave the area for fresh air and call the Poison Help line, 1-800-222-1222 (in the US). It is free and confidential, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 911 if someone has trouble breathing.
Denise talks about saving money at home, like spending less on cleaners and wasting less food. She never gives money, investing or financial advice.
Found a mistake?
If something on a page looks wrong, or the label at your store says something different, please tell us at denise@denisehomeguide.com. We read every note, fix what is wrong and update the checked date on that page.
